Stephen Cerven
Session Description:
This presentation is a case study of one companys approach to developing and using a dynamic audit tool/process. The presentation will cover the development of the audit tool, implementing the audit process, scoring the audit, the ongoing gap training that was provided for the safety champions, and the successes and bumps along the audit trail.
Sections of the presentation will include:
The development of the audit tool, both the paper copy as well as the automated Excel spreadsheet version;
The implementation of the audit process, which has been ongoing now for 6 years and has driven accidents to such a low level that the CEO has come to realize that the number of accidents are no longer a viable metric of the company's safety performance;
How scoring was conducted including how it was initially weighted and how it has changed;
A review of the annual training for the safety champions and how it improved the level of their effectiveness as they facilitated the safety programs at their plants;
What worked and what didn't work with the audit tool/process;
Where the company is headed now as the audit process has matured.
