Electrical Safety in the Workplace - Hazardous Locations

Session Description:

An overview of Class I (flammables) and Class II (dusty) Locations. Some of the methods that must be used to protect our plants and personnel. Also discussed will be the OSHA requirements and the relationship with the National Electrical Code (NFPA 70).

 

Speaker Bio:

Joseph E. Layton President of Layton's Electrical Consulting Inc. King, NC. Joe possesses a K&LE in Electrical (Knowledge & Lots of Experience). He has nearly 45 years in the electrical field as an Electrician, Electrical Inspector for the City of Raleigh, NC. He has Unlimited Electrical Contractor License and has engage in Electrical Contracting in the Morehead City area of NC.

Joe closed his contracting business in 1976 and was employed with RJ Reynolds Tobacco Company as an Electrician and retired in 1993 as a Project Manager. He started his current business of Electrical Consultant at that time.

Joe is a past OSHA Outreach Training for both Georgia Tech (OSHA Region 4) and Texas A&M (OSHA Region 6). In 2003, he was approached by NASA about providing Electrical Training for some 14 of their facilities. At that point he gave up training for the 2 outreach centers to concentrate on NASA and his other clients. Joe has clients in about 30 states.
