Emergency Response Teams - Who? ME?

Session Description:

Who is involved in on an Emergency Response Team? What are their responsibilities? How do they make decisions? Components of the Plan? Escalation? Come to this session to learn the answers to these and other questions. Incidents typically occur on a local level. Therefore, you need local people ready to respond. During this session, we will discuss the Emergency Response Team structure, who should be included on the team and what their roles and responsibilities should be.

We will also discuss the overall Crisis Management Structure and the escalation of incidents and the triggers that could cause the incident to be escalated. We will discuss he components of a plan and checklists to go into those components. We will discuss different types of exercises that can be used to test the plan and you will take away lessons learned from years of experience in developing and implementing the ERT programs and exercises.

 

Speaker Bio:

Sue Kerr the President of Continuity First, Inc. Sue's expertise includes the development and implementation of the Business Continuity and Crisis Management Programs both nationally and internationally. She successfully led companies through the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, HAZMAT incidents, Hurricane Isabel, wild fires and other natural and man-made incidents.

Sue is a graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University earning a Bachelors of Science with a concentration in Information Systems. She has a Masters Certificate from the Project Management Institute at George Washington University. She has been a Certified Business Continuity Planner (CBCP) since 1998. She is the President for the Old Dominion Chapter of the Association of Contingency Planners (ACP). She worked with two working groups sponsored by DRII and the Disaster Recovery Journal on refining the standards within the Generally Accepted Practices for the Business Continuity industry.

Publications for Sue include interviews within the Richmond Times Dispatch and Washington Technology as well as publishing various articles within the Disaster Recovery Journal. She has spoken at many conferences and seminars on such topics as Business Continuity Planning, Crisis Management, and Pandemic Influenza.
